Winter Storm. Precipitation started as rain during the afternoon of January 24th before changing over to snow during the late afternoon, with the snow then continuing into the morning of January 25th. Widespread snow amounts around 5 to 6 inches fell across the county. A CoCoRaHS report from 3.5 miles east of Salem measured a storm total of 6.0 inches of snow, with a measured 5.0 inches 4 miles NW of Salem from a public report. Roads became snow covered and slippery. Up to around 2400 power outages also occurred across the county due to the heavy snow. Some schools had early release on January 24th, with numerous schools closed on January 25th and some schools also closed on January 26th.
