Monett Power Outages Caused by Weather
Events
A few barns and outbuildings suffered minor to moderate damage and at least one power pole was broken. Power lines were reported laying on the road at the intersection of Highways 37 and BB.
Multiple power lines were reported down.
Rain changed to snow across the county during the afternoon hours of January 24th, with the snow then continuing into the morning of January 25th. Widespread snow amounts between 4 and 6 inches fell across the county. A CoCoRaHS report of a measured storm total of 6.4 inches of snow was received from 5 miles SSE of Cassville, with a measured 6.0 inches 5 miles NW of Eagle Rock and 5.0 inches in Washburn. Roads became snow covered and slippery, with a one vehicle injury accident occurring on Highway 76 at Lohmer as a car slid off the road into a ditch and overturned. Around 50 power outages also occurred across the county due to the heavy snow. Some schools had early release on January 24th, with numerous schools closed on January 25th.
Two large trees were reported down near the intersection of Farm Roads 1020 and 2040 and on power lines causing power outages in the area.
Power outages were reported with trees blown down on power lines.
Episodes
An isolated severe thunderstorm produced damaging wind gusts in the community of Seligman. A few trees and power poles were knocked down along with damage to a garage.
A few storms developed over southwest Missouri during the overnight hours of 9 December. The storms produced penny size hail and severe thunderstorm wind gusts up to 60 mph that damaged power poles.
A National Weather Service storm survey revealed that a microburst had directly affected the community of Exeter. Several structures experienced roof damage while numerous trees and power lines were downed.
Several buildings were damaged from the Wheaton and Purdy area, eastward to around Butterfield. One trailer was destroyed along with numerous trees and power lines blown down. 70 mph winds and roof damage were also reported in Cassville.
