Olivia Power Outages Caused by Weather

Numerous reports of downed trees and power lines from the eastern part of Granite Falls, eastward along Highway 212 to Sacred Heart. However, the damage became more sporadic eastward toward Sacred Heart.
A large farm north of Buffalo Lake, Minnesota, received significant damage to their grain bins. Also, several large branches were blown down, with six power poles damaged near the area.
There were numerous power lines that were damaged, 3 were snapped, and several large tree limbs, up to 10 inches in diameter, were blown down from near Olivia, to Hector.

The severe weather that had been expected to hit west central Minnesota over the holiday weekend did materialize. There were reports of a tornado near Appleton and Milan late afternoon Monday, as well as high winds, hail and rain throughout the area. Power outages, trees down and damage to structures were reported.
