After surveying severe thunderstorm damage in the Town of Plaistow, the National Weather Service confirmed that the damage was caused by a microburst. Wind gusts estimated at 80 to 90 mph snapped or uprooted hundreds of trees in the southern section of the town. The microburst affected an area about 2 miles wide and 1.6 miles in length. Numerous structures were damaged by falling trees. Dozens of utility poles and wires were also downed leading to widespread power outages.
