Power out since 7:17pm this evening.

Stan | November 27, 2021

Power went out at my house located in Chase Oaks Village off Legacy and Chase Oaks 75023 Monday at 3:30 am and has not come back on at all and it is now Thursday night. I have reported this three times with out an ounce of response. This is completely incomprehensible and criminal that this has happened to myself and so many people in my area. I’d even accept rolling blackouts but continuous loss of power for almost four days is insane. Fix this!!!!!!!

We have had about 2 MINS of power since Monday morning 8:30 AM! While businesses down the street didn't lose power at all! How is this fair?

Power out on Matterhorn Dr 75075 while some east of Custer north of Parker have been minimally impacted or have not lost. What happen to the rolling blackouts?

Ray | February 16, 2021

We lost power starting Monday morning at 2:00 a.m. Over the past 34 hours, we have had a total of about 6 hours with power. Usually power is off for 8-12 hours then comes on for 1-2 hours. This is merciless with the temperatures near 0 degrees. What the heck is going on? Other areas in Plano have not had any power outages at all! What gives? We were told there would be rolling blackouts. What a dishonest thing to say. Our state leaders need to look into this. We deserve an answer as to why some areas are near total blackout and other areas have not lost electricity at all.

Power Outage FAQs

What is Power Outage?

Power outage (also called a power cut, a power blackout, power failure or a blackout) is a short-term or a long-term loss of the electric power to a particular area.

What Causes Power Outages?

  • Severe weather (high winds, lightning, winter storms, heat waves, rain or flooding can cause damage to power lines or equipment);
  • Other damage to electric transmission lines (vehicle accidents, trees, and animals can cause damage to power lines or equipment);
  • Repairing, maintenance or upgrades on power lines and equipment.

What are the Top Outage Safety Tips?

  • Stay away from the downed power lines, park vehicles in protected areas;
  • Unplug appliances and electronics, limit cell phone use to conserve battery life;
  • Use portable generators outdoors only, well away from open windows and doors;
  • Pack perishable foods into a cooler, keep refrigerator and freezer doors shut as much as possible.
