Roselawn Power Outages Caused by Weather
Events
Tree damage was reported from the state line, through Morocco, east to Meridian Road and between County Roads 200 S and 500 S. The bulk of the damage occurred in Morocco where numerous tree limbs, some several feet in diameter, were blown down. A few trees fell onto houses and cars. Utility poles and power lines were also blown down. A few corn fields south of town were blown over. A grove of trees was damaged near 200 S and Meridian Road.
Snow began in Newton County around 515 am CST. However, blizzard impacts were felt around 415 pm CST. At 800 pm CST, near blizzard conditions were seen in Mount Ayr, based on impacts of heavy snow and concurrent blowing snow with near zero visibility reported. State of emergency had been declared for Newton County. Numerous motorists were stranded and needed rescue. There were also many power outages across the county. The highest snow report was 8.0 inches 7 miles SE of Lake Village.
Multiple power poles, trees, and limbs up to 18 inches in diameter were blown down on Route 55 between 500N and 800N. A motorist was trapped when power lines fell onto a vehicle on Route 55.
Numerous tree limbs were blown down. Power poles were leaning over.

A powerful line of thunderstorms moved across parts of northwest Indiana during the afternoon of June 30th.
A bow echo moved east out of central Illinois into northwest Indiana during the afternoon of Sunday July 8th. A building was leveled in Enos in Newton county at 1516 CST and trees were blown down in Brook. Trees and powerlines were blown down across all of Benton county and one tree fell onto two cars in Fowler producing significant damage.
