Power Outage in Savanna, IL

A brief tornado occurred near Mt. Carroll as a line of supercell thunderstorms swept northeast over Illinois on March 31st. This tornado was found using satellite information to identify a damage track. There was confirmed powerline damage in that track.

A trained spotter reported 2 inches of snow and sleet in Mt Carroll, Illinois, along with 0.3 inches ice accumulation. Significant blowing and drifting snow was widespread over the area with white out conditions at times. Power outages from down power lines, power poles, and tree branch damage were widespread.

Several trees and power lines were downed by gusty winds. One tree damaged 4 vehicles when it fell, and another tree fell on the roof of theater offices.
