Utility company reported tree and power line damage in the Sterling area, including some broken power poles.
Some very large trees were uprooted and power lines were blown down by intense thunderstorm winds.
Trees and power lines came down, some fell onto vehicles.
This tornado formed about 6 miles west of Wymore at 433 pm CDT (1533 CST), tracked northeast to around 4 miles east of Beatrice where it caused f2 damage, then tracked just south of Adams and crossed into Johnson county 2 miles southeast of Adams, or 4 miles southwest of Sterling, around 515 pm CDT. In Johnson county the tornado tracked another 5 miles before dissipating or lifting 3 miles north of Sterling. This tornado formed from a supercell which then became rain-wrapped taking on a heavy rain (hp) supercell characteristics.In Johnson county the average damage path width was around 150 yards. The tornado caused f1 damage 2 miles northwest of Sterling where some roof and tree damage was noted. In all 6 houses received damage in Johnson county from the tornado and several outbuildings were destroyed. The storm also knocked power lines down which resulted in loss of power for some customers for up to 8 hours.

Approximately4,576 Nebraska Public Power District customers are without power following Wednesday's unprecedented storm. NPPD UPDATE: 304 CUSTOMERS EXPERIENCING OUTAGES. NPPD officials say the outages includeapproximately 1,609 customers in Humboldt, 1,116 customers in Plattsmouth, 733 customers in Kearney, 354 customers in the Sterling area, and 231 customers in Geneva. Crews are in the process of restoring power to these areas and others across the state.
