Power Outage in Stillwater, OK

A mobile home was destroyed and blocked Lone Chimney road. Also, power lines were reported own on Perkins and Lone Chimney Roads.

This tornado moved into Payne County from Noble County near Glencoe road moving northeast and then north-northeast crossing back into Noble County between Country Club Road and Sangre Road. At least two houses and two outbuildings were damaged in Payne County in addition to tree and power pole damage.

Observed 0.25 inches of ice accumulation. Ice caused power outages for 1380 customers. Damage estimates are from local power cooperatives.

Freezing rain prevailed through the event with widespread 1/4 to 1/2 inch ice accumulations on trees, power lines and other elevated surfaces. Sporadic downed tree limbs were also reported.

Several large branches, along with numerous smaller branches were blown down. Part of the facades at two businesses were ripped off. Power was knocked out to over 3800 residents. Some of the debris knocked down power lines, which caused a few structure fires. One home was completely destroyed by the fire. Monetary damage estimates were not available.

This tornado was labeled B4 (Stillwater tornado). This tornado developed with mainly tree and power pole/line damage. The tree damage was significant, with several homes impacted as the tornado traveled northeast. Significant roof and siding damage occurred to the homes, with several barns and outbuildings sustaining significant damage or were destroyed altogether. EF-2 damage continued as the tornado moved south of Stillwater, with additional structures sustaining roof damage. A couple of the homes also had collapsed chimneys. The damage lessened in severity over the latter half of the tornado path, with mostly tree damage and minor structural damage. Monetary damage estimates were not available.

Several 10-15 inch diameter tree limbs were downed, some of them falling on top of power lines. At least 6,200 people were without power for around an hour. Monetary damages were estimated.

Widespread tree, power line, and power pole damage occurred county-wide. The worst of the damage occurred in the Perkins, Cushing, and Yale areas. Greater than 1300 were without power across the county, due to at least a half of an inch of ice accumulation.

Measured wind gusts of 60, 76, and 79 mph at the Cushing Weather Tower in Payne county were possibly caused by a heatburst. Many tree limbs and several power lines were downed across the town of Cushing. A large tree was also downed barely missing a house but causing some damage to the roof. North of Agra in Lincoln county, a carport fell on the owners car damaging the vehicle. One to two inch tree limbs were also downed in the town of Agra where wind gusts to 65 mph were observed.

Lightning struck a transmission line, causing a power outage.

Trees and power poles were downed at Stillwater Municipal Airport.

A roof was blown off a home, and billboard signs were downed on the west side of Stillwater. In addition, outbuildings were destroyed, and power lines were downed near the intersection of Highway 51 and Cottonwood Blvd.
