Power Outage in Proctor, TX

Extreme Cold/Wind Chill. Extreme cold gripped the county for several days. Overnight lows were near or below 15 degrees Fahrenheit almost all week. The period of February 15-16th was the coldest with low temperatures in the single digits to slightly below degrees Fahrenheit. The maximum temperature on the 15th was only in the single digits. Wind chill values during the 14th-16th were between 0 to -20 degrees Fahrenheit most of the time. The cold temperatures resulted in an extreme amount of damage to pipes, infrastructure, and power.

Thunderstorm Wind. Trees and powerlines were knocked down in Sidney by strong thunderstorm winds. Trees were also knocked down to the east of Sidney at the intersection of CR 157 and CR 103.

May 26, 2016

Thunderstorm Wind. The Comanche County Sheriff's Office reported a roof blown off of a building in Comanche. This same storm damaged several transformers, power lines and significant tree damage.

Thunderstorm Wind. A 64 mph wind gust was measured at the automated weather station at Comanche County airport (KMKN). The sheriff's office reported large tree limbs and power lines were knocked down around the city of Comanche.

Strong Wind. The roof of an unoccupied building at South Austin Street and West Oak Street in Comanche was blown off. Power lines were also knocked down by the strong winds. The nearest AWOS reported a peak wind gust of 45 mph.
