Heavy rains from Tropical Depression Cristobal fell across southeast Minnesota on June 9th. Rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches were common with locally higher amounts of 4 to 5 inches. This heavy rain created some flash flooding with mudslides across portions of Fillmore and Winona Counties. Mudslides occurred near Whalan (Fillmore County) that impacted State Highway 16. Mudslides also occurred near Elba and Whitewater State Park (Winona County) and near Winona (Winona County) that brought down some power lines. The highest reported rainfall totals were 5.34 inches near Whalan and 4.79 near Winona.
A line of thunderstorms moved across southeast Minnesota during the early morning of September 11th. A tornado was spawned out of the storms in Winona (Winona County) and moved through a cemetery causing extensive damage to trees and gravestones. Trees and power lines were also blown down in other parts of the city.
A line of thunderstorms moved across southeast Minnesota during the afternoon of September 17th. These storms mainly produced wind gusts in the 40 to 50 mph range, which was enough to cause some damage. Trees and power lines were blown down in Dodge Center (Dodge County), damaged a building roof in Goodview (Winona County) and blew down numerous trees in the city of Winona (Winona County). The storms also dropped about 2 inches of rain in less than hour in Winona that caused some street flooding to occur.
A line of thunderstorms developed ahead of an advancing cold front during the afternoon of August 29th. Some of these storms across southeast Minnesota contained high winds that blew down trees at a campground near Elba (Winona County), damaged trees in the city of Winona (Winona County) and bent a power pole in Rushford (Fillmore County).
Scattered thunderstorms developed across southeast Minnesota during the late afternoon of July 6th. These storms formed along a warm front that was lifting northeast through the region. Some of these storms contained strong winds that blew down trees and power lines from Homer to Pickwick (Winona County). A house in Homer sustained damage when a tree landed on it.
