Alton, MO. - Howell-Oregon Electric Co-Op issued a press release about a scheduled black-out for the Alton area for maintenance. Read below for more: Sho-Me Power, the wholesale electric provider of Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative, Inc., has scheduled a planned power outage for the Alton Substation beginning at 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, lasting for approximately 4 hours. Members in the Alton area will be without power during the planned outage for maintenance purposes.If this outage lasts longer than the estimated time, information will be posted on the Howell-Oregon Facebook page. Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative (HOEC), headquartered in West Plains, Missouri, delivers cost-efficient, reliable electricity to approximately 25,000 meters in south-central Missouri across six counties: Douglas, Ozark, Texas, Shannon, Howell and Oregon. UPDATE: 12:14 P.M. 10-26-2022 - Power has been restored to the area. The cause of the downed line was a car crashed into a power pole on Highway P. HOEC crews are working on replacing the pole. West Plains, MO. - A power line was reported down on the roadway on Highway P, five miles west of Alton on Wednesday morning. Sources contacted Ozark Radio News about the power line at 11:30 a.m. Currently, traffic is being turned around for safety reasons. Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative (HOEC) have been contacted and have crews on their way to repair the line.
