Snowfall of 1 to 3 inches accumulated with blowing snow and strong wind gusts of 30-40 mph. Rapidly falling temperatures resulted in slick roads and significant travel impacts. Treacherous travel conditions were noted throughout December 23rd, a busy holiday travel day. Wind chills of -25 to -30 were observed on the morning of the 23rd. Extreme cold strained the power grid and rolling blackouts were implemented by utility companies.
Ice accumulation of 0.25 to 0.50 inches occurred across Nelson County. The ice knocked numerous trees down, resulting in about 2,000 customers without power in Bardstown.
There were nearly 1,800 reported without power across the county due to icing.
A power line was reported down at Woodlawn Road and Spencer Mattingly Lane.

Thunderstorms produced damaging winds and large hail over much of East Central and North Central Kentucky. Numerous trees and power lines were downed over much of the area. The Versailles area was particularly hard hit. A tree was blown on to a car 5 miles southwest of Versailles, and people were trapped inside for a time. Many large trees were downed at the Woodford Hills Country Club golf course, 3 miles south of Versailles. A power pole was blown down 5 miles east of Versailles.Numerous trees and power lines were downed near Woodlawn and Bardstown in Nelson County.
