June 2, 2016

Thunderstorms developed moved across the region from west to east as a cold front approached. In Pavilion, a lighting strike from one of the storms started a house fire on Shepard Road. An isolated storm near Newark in Wayne county produced damaging winds that downed some power lines on Hydesville Road. Also in Wayne county, the storms produced torrential rains that caused Ganargua Creek to overflow and close portions of Welcher and Misteed Roads. Nearby, a portion of Hydesville Road was washed out by flood waters.

July 25, 2009

A tornado crossed the town of Darien and village of Corfu in Genesee county. The initial touchdown occurred at 453 PM EDT on Reynolds Road in Darien. The tornado moved northeast across Routes 77 and 33 before lifting near Boyce Road at 505 PM EDT (a path length of about four miles). Widespread damage occurred to the small village. Over 30 homes were damaged and three buildings were demolished. Two greenhouses were also destroyed. Twenty power poles were snapped, countless trees were uprooted and a number of vehicles sustained damage. The tornado was rated an EF1 with wind speeds estimated close to 100 mph.

An isolated thunderstorm produced downburst winds to 60 mph that downed trees and power lines in the Town of Elba.

May 20, 2004

Thunderstorms developed along a front stalled across the Finger Lakes Region. The thunderstorm winds downed trees and power lines in Le Roy and Caledonia. The slow moving storms also produced up to three inches of rain in less than an hour. Several roads were closed and one home on East Lake Road in Conesus was damaged.
