Campton Power Outages Caused by Weather

Dispatch reported a couple instances of wind damage in the county. At 1:30 PM EDT, a powerline was blown down, and caused some grass to catch fire along Sandy Ridge Road just south of the High Falls Community. Then at 1:45 PM, a tree was reported to have been blown down in the Bethany Community.
The RAWS site at Koomer Ridge reported a peak wind gust of 62 mph at 7:09 PM EST. Meanwhile, several other reports of wind damage were made across the county around this same time.||These reports include:|At 7:10 PM EST - The Park Service at the Red River Gorge reported that strong winds pulled down a tree, which landed on and destroyed an iconic suspension bridge that connects the Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail across the Red River, along the Menifee and Wolfe County border. |At 7:20 PM EST - A public report stated that a barn located just off Cave Brance Road, and a short distance from KY-1261, was demolished by the strong wind gusts and resulted in the dealth of livestock. |At 7:25 PM EST - Public reported that a power pole was blown down near Dairy Queen in Campton.
A tree fell on Hiram Branch Road. The tree fell onto a power line, taking out power to nearby customers.
The weight of ice from freezing rain caused a tree to fall onto a nearby power line, thereby causing the power line to spark and catch on fire. This occurred near High Falls.
A tree was blown down and onto some nearby power lines. Numerous large limbs were also blown down around the area.
