Fulton Power Outages Caused by Weather
Events
Thunderstorm winds blew down several power lines and a tree on the east side of town.
Thunderstorm winds blew down several large trees near the intersection of State Highway E and County Road 245, blocking the road. Also, between 5 and 6 power poles were blown down, as well as power lines.
The Missouri River at Jefferson City rose above 33 feet during the late evening hours of June 3rd, which is 3 feet above Major Flood stage and remained that high through the evening of June 8th. This was the period when the river was at it's highest levels for this event. The flooding affected Jefferson City Memorial Airport for a couple of months. The terminal building sustained more than 50 percent damage so will have to be torn down and rebuilt to FEMA floodplain standards. The airport tower was flooded as well. The ASOS unit had to be powered off beginning May 22nd until July 30th and had to be repaired once the flood waters went down.
Thunderstorm winds blew down several large trees around town as well as tree limbs and power lines. One large tree fell onto a house causing moderate damage. One barn had minor roof damage.
Thunderstorm winds blew down numerous trees between Holts Summit and Fulton. Some of the trees fell onto homes in Holts Summit and Fulton. Also, a few trees fell across roads and power lines.

Lighting strikes around 5:00 pm caused a power outage across most of downtown and in the North Business 54 area. At least two area homes also had minor damage.
Storm spotters reported 4 to 6 inch diameter tree limbs down in New Bloomfield. Local law enforcement reported power lines down in Holts Summit.
Lightning strikes were responsible for power outages in Fulton and Kingdom City. Some businesses and residents were without power for up to 4 hours.
Thunderstorm winds downed trees and power lines across parts of Callaway County. Trees and power lines were down in Fulton and Hold Summit. Three quarter inch hail was reported in New Bloomfield.
Thunderstorm wind gusts downed trees northeast of Millersburg along Highway J. A billboard on County Road 257 along I-70 was blown down. The billboard fell on power lines resulting in 6 downed power poles.
