Hannibal Power Outages Caused by Weather
Events
Widespread damaging winds occurred across Hannibal. Numerous large trees, tree limbs and power lines were blown down. One tree was blown down onto an unoccupied camper and another tree was blown down onto an unoccupied car. A hardware store in town sustained moderate roof damage. Also, a large portion of a flat metal roof was removed from a building on the Hannibal-LaGrange University Campus. Several trees and numerous tree limbs were blown down on campus as well.
Widespread wind damage across the central sections of Marion County. Numerous trees, tree limbs and power lines were blown down. Some of the debris landed on roads blocking them.

Thunderstorm winds blew down numerous trees, tree limbs and power lines. Some trees were blown down at the intersection of County Road 426 and Highway MM. In Hannibal, numerous trees were blown down. Two large tree limbs landed on two unoccupied cars causing considerable damage to both.
Episodes
A winter storm produced freezing rain, sleet and snow across Northeast Missouri. Ice accumulations averaged 1/4 inch with about 1/2 inch of sleet and then up to 2 - 3 inches of snow. There were scattered power outages and travel problems.
Storm spotters reported hail up to 2 inches in diameter west of Hannibal, 1 inch hail in town, and golfball size hail just south of town. Tree limbs and power lines were downed on the south side of town as well.
A severe thunderstorm produced hail and some wind damage in the Palmyra area. Storm spotters reported hail up to golfball size south of Palmyra. The Marion County Sheriff Department reported some large tree limbs and power lines down in Palmyra.
A supercell thunderstorm evolved in a bow echo storm and produced wind damage in the Palmyra area. Trees and power lines were down from 1.5 miles southwest of town into the town itself.
A severe thunderstorm produced 1 inch hail and wind damage in Hannibal. Trees and powerlines were down with some automobiles damaged by the trees. The chimney on a house was damaged by a downed tree.

Widespread tree damage across the central portions of Marion County, from near Philadelphia to just east of Palmyra. In Palmyra, the door to a pizza restaurant was blown off. Also, numerous power lines were blown down due to fallen trees and tree limbs. A large 4 foot diameter tree was snapped off on Highway 168 just east of Palmyra.
