Multiple trees and power lines were blown down from about 4 miles west northwest of Morganton, across the north and east side of Morganton and across Drexel. The Drexel and Valdese areas were hardest hit, with several roads blocked by trees. One tree fell on a house on Laurel St NE, about a mile north of Valdese. A 55 mph wind gust was measured at the Hickory Airport.
