A severe thunderstorm knocked down numerous large trees in Kenneth Square and Kenneth Township. Many homes within Kennett Square sustained water damage after the fallen trees created holes in the roofs. The combination of the damaging winds and lightning across southern Chester County caused power outages that lasted up to twenty-four hours. Of the 45,000 homes and businesses that lost power in the PECO energy service area, Chester County was hardest hit.
