Ice Storm. Spotters reported significant ice accretion resulting in numerous accidents, downed trees and power lines, and isolated power outages throughout the northern portion of the county.

December 15, 2022

An area of low pressure passed by to the west with another area of low pressure developing near the Chesapeake Bay. This resulted in southeasterly winds to overrun colder air near the surface and a prolonged wintry mix/freezing rain event across the Allegheny and Potomac Highlands where temperatures were just below freezing. Ice accumulations totaled one quarter to three quarters of an inch. Sleet accumulations totaled upwards of 2 as well. This led to numerous accidents, downed trees and power lines which resulted in isolated power outages.

December 15, 2022

Thunderstorm Wind. A tree blew down bringing down a power pole and lines near Sunshine Trail and Harbaugh Valley Road. Trees and wires blew down in the 7500 block of Friends Creek Road.

Thunderstorm Wind. A downburst affected areas near and north of Frederick. Several trees blew down on Ford Road. A tree blew down near the intersection of US-15 and Mountville Road. A large tree limb blew down bringing down power lines near the intersection of Old Annapolis Road and Bridle Path Lane. A large tree limb blew down bringing down power lines in the unit block of East Second Street.

Thunderstorm Wind. A tree blew down on MD-478 West Potomac Street near Moore Street. Power lines were blown down in the 3000 block of Petersville Road.
