WTF
Why did our power go out at 3:00 AM in Monrovia? There isn’t any wind to damage anything? It’s been out for 40 minutes now. We called immediately after it went out and they already had a message which indicated it was do to inclement weather. Inclement weather? What inclement weather? From yesterday? There isn’t enough wind to disturb a wind chime. The message also said it would be fixed tomorrow at 1:00! Hahaha. Within seconds of the outage no less! It is terribly inappropriate to have a message up which blames it on inclement weather and gives a repair time when your own phone selection dumps you to recordings which leave you with less of an idea of what’s going on than you had before you called to report. Whoever is running the show over there is a donkey. A useless donkey. If anyone knows the donkeys name post it in this thread so we can make him famous. What a donk.

What is Power Outage?

Power outage (also called a power cut, a power blackout, power failure or a blackout) is a short-term or a long-term loss of the electric power to a particular area.

What Causes Power Outages?

  • Severe weather (high winds, lightning, winter storms, heat waves, rain or flooding can cause damage to power lines or equipment);
  • Other damage to electric transmission lines (vehicle accidents, trees, and animals can cause damage to power lines or equipment);
  • Repairing, maintenance or upgrades on power lines and equipment.

Outage Safety Tips

  • Stay away from the downed power lines, park vehicles in protected areas.
  • Unplug appliances and electronics, limit cell phone use to conserve battery life.
  • Use portable generators outdoors only, well away from open windows and doors.
  • Pack perishable foods into a cooler, keep refrigerator and freezer doors shut as much as possible.
