Recent Weather Related Causes of Power Outages in Lewis and Clark County
A severe thunderstorm produced a micro-burst over the East Helena area during the early evening hours of the 8th. The micro-burst produced a wind gust in excess of 60 mph which severely damaged a barn containing nine miniature horses. The micro-burst also downed nine power poles along Canyon Ferry Road, scattering debris for two miles. Power was knocked out to most of East Helena as well as the East Valley. No injuries to man or animals were reported.

A severe thunderstorm moved through the city of Helena during the evening hours of the 23rd. The winds were strongest on the north side of town, where several power poles were knocked down, and one roof was blown off a house.

Hail. A severe thunderstorm moved through the Helena area on the 14th. Hail generally ranged from 1 inch to 1.75 inches in diameter. Wind gusts between 60 and 70 mph were common throughout the Helena area. Numerous trees and power lines were knocked down.
