April 18, 2022 - Heavy Snow

Snow accumulated 5 to 17 inches. The heavy snow caused trees and powers lines to fall, resulting in approximately 305 customers without power.

High winds occurred across the region with gusts between 50 and 60 mph. Numerous trees were blown down and many customers were without power.

A NWS storm survey team determined that damage in the county was caused by a severe thunderstorm that produced a tornado. Most of the damage along the path was to trees. Significant damage occurred approximately 1 mile south of the Village of Georgetown. A large barn was destroyed, a roof was torn off a house, several outbuildings and sheds were destroyed, and power poles were snapped. There was one injury at this location. A second farm on Upham Road was hit, destroying a large barn, a silo and a couple of sheds. Some livestock were lost at this location. A farmstead near Niles Road also received damage to a silo, and damage to the home's roof and siding.

A winter storm swept across the Northeastern US and brought a wintry mix to Central New York and Northeast Pennsylvania. A few counties received up to a half inch of ice. Snowfall generally ranged from around an inch to around 6 inches, along with a coating of ice. The counties that received the most ice had scattered power outages.
