A power outage affecting nearly 6,000 Greenville-area residents Sunday evening occurred after a power pole carrying high-voltage power lines caught fire and subsequently snapped in half. At approximately 6:48 p.m., the Greenville Department of Public Safety was dispatched to the report of a wildfire north of W. Snows Lake Road and east of S. River Road in Eureka Township.
