The CO-OP observer in Chautauqua measured 1/4 inch of ice from sleet and freezing rain. The observer also reported that there were power outages in Chautauqua, Sedan, and Cedarvale.
Freezing rain produced major ice accumulations that ranged from 0.75 to 1 inch on roads & highways, 0.50 to 0.75 inch on trees, and 0.50 inch on power lines. No major trees downed, but limbs of unspecified diameter downed all over Sedan.
Estimated winds up to 85 mph caused a swath of damage from Cedar Vale to 9 miles northwest of Sedan. Numerous trees, power lines, and limbs were reported down. The swath was estimated to be 2 to 3 miles wide. An estimated 9 power poles were laying across highway 99.
