Power Outage in Spearman, TX

Reports from local police of several downed power lines a few miles west of Spearman around the 15/207 area and a few miles north of Gruver on HWY 136. Additionally, several downed tree branches as well as loose objects, such as trampolines, had been displaced in town.

Received a report of 15 power poles blown down or snapped on County Road X just west of Highway 207.

Received a report of 13 power poles blown down or snapped on County Road Y just east of 760.

Two miles of power poles blown down on County Road 28 around 1/2 mile south of county road 759.

Storm chaser reports a downed power line along Highway 15 northeast of Spearman.

Resident count of 2,132 affected with four homes severely damage due to electrical fires and one home was destroyed There were 320 business that also reported economic injuries. Damages and economic impact also resulted from: debris cleanup (downed trees, etc), numerous downed power lines and broken power poles, and damaged to roads and bridges.

Three power poles were snapped by thunderstorm winds 2 miles northeast of Spearman.

Fourteen power poles down or snapped on Highway 151 between Highway 207 and 760.

Local law enforcement officials reported damaging non-thunderstorm wind gusts eight miles south southwest of Spearman, Texas. The south side of a cotton gin near the intersection of Texas State Highway 51 and County Road 23 was peeled off. The tin was blown one half to three quarters of a mile. There were also several power poles which were knocked down at the same location. There were no injuries or fatalities.

Numerous power poles were reported broken.

An official storm damage survey was made on the tornado path length and width. The tornado destroyed several grain bins and a grain elevator to Agco facility. Extensive damage also occurred at a local farm...including the home...barns and equipment. Several power poles also were blown down.

The Power Line wildfire began around 1909CST about six miles northwest of Morse Texas in Hansford county. The wildfire consumed approximately five hundred acres and was caused by downed power lines. There were no reports of homes or other structures threatened or lost by the wildfire and there were no reports of any injuries or fatalities. The wildfire was contained between 2230CST to 2300CST. There were a total of six fire departments or other fire agencies that responded to the wildfire.
