Power Outage in Williamston, NC

Edgecombe-Martin Electric Cooperative reports nearly 80 customers without power around Martin County. The time was estimated based on radar data.

Dominion Energy reports power outages around the county due to trees that fell on power lines. Wind gusts were estimated up to 50 to 55 mph.

Powerlines were blown down on alt hwy 64 west of Williamston close to Robersons Heating and Air. Powerlines were also blown down within Williamston and on McCaskey Rd and Corey Dr.

Some tropical storm force wind gusts affected the early during the overnight hours. Power outages resulted from trees and powerlines that were blown down. According to the NC Department of Public Safety, some 9,474 customers were without power across the county.

Large tree limbs were blown down onto powerlines in Beargrass.

Widespread heavy rain and strong winds developed over the region from the morning of September 13th through the evening of September 15th. Rainfall was generally 5��� to 8��� over most of the county with a storm total of 7.53��� in Williamston. Gusty northeast winds developed ahead of Florence as the storm approached the coast with a peak wind gust of 39 mph west of Snow Hill at 1159 PM LST on September 13th. The gusty winds combined with saturated ground led to some downed trees with and power outages.

One third of an inch of freezing rain was measured, along with a mix of snow and sleet measuring around an inch. Roads very slippery with local power outages reported due to falling tree limbs on power lines.

Across Martin County...winds gusted to tropical storm force resulting in downed trees and power-lines with sporadic power outages. Storm total rainfall ranged from 11 to 14 inches with flooding of roads and low lying areas. Significant damage occurred to structures and crops.

A weak tornado touched down near Garret Road about 2 miles southwest of Williamston. The tornado knocked down some power lines and did minor damage to the roof and siding of a home.
