Multiple trees and powers lines were reported down on Highway 14.
Precipitation started as rain around midday on January 24th before changing over to snow during the late afternoon, with the snow then continuing into the morning of January 25th. Widespread snow amounts between 3 and 4.5 inches fell across the county. A CoCoRaHS report of a measured storm total of 4.5 inches of snow was received from 4 miles WNW of Verona, with a measured 4.0 inches in Aurora. Roads became snow covered and slippery. Around 70 power outages also occurred across the county due to the snow. Some schools had early release on January 24th, with numerous schools closed on January 25th.
A power line was reported down across the road blocking traffic.
This was a continuation of the storm from December 31, 2020. A picture via social media from Mount Vernon showed a measurement of 0.22 inches of radial ice accumulation on a tree branch. This converts to 0.56 inches of flat ice accumulations. Scattered power outages were reported around the county. The freezing rain changed to snow with accumulations up to an inch before the precipitation ended.
Multiple trees, power lines and poles were reported down in town. Numerous power outages were reported as well. Damage was reported to several buildings in town and on the square downtown.
