Power Outage in Denmark, SC

Two trees were reported down in Bamberg Co, along with a few power outages.

Bamberg dispatch relayed report from the public of a tree down on power lines, causing a power outage, near US Hwy 301 and the bridge over the Little Salkehatchie river.

The tornado touched down in Barnwell County, tracked to the ENE and moved out of Barnwell County and into Bamberg County near US Hwy 78. The tornado then moved northeast across northern Bamberg County across Fox Glove Road and Char-Augusta Road, before dissipating just prior to the Orangeburg County line. A power pole was snapped, a pivot irrigation system was flipped over and several softwood trees were uprooted.

A major Ice Storm produced 1 to 1.25 inches of ice and 1 to 2 inches of snow and sleet across Bamberg County taking down numerous trees and powerlines. Power outages were widespread across the county affecting most of the population.

A winter storm produced freezing rain, sleet, and snow across Bamberg County causing hazardous traveling conditions. Many trees and several powerlines came down causing power outages in areas of the County. Freezing rain accumulations of 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch occurred with snow/sleet accumulations from 1 to 2 inches across the county.

Sheriff reported trees and powerlines down on Butler Street in Denmark. Penny size hail also occurred on Hommens Bridge Road.

EM reported snow accumulations of 1 inche in the north portion of the county. Freezing rain followed the snow with ice accumulations of 1/2 inch causing many power outages.

DOT reported several trees down in the northwest part of the county along with a couple of powerlines.

Sheriff reported a tornado and NWS storm survey confirmed a touchdown along a path from just north of Olar to just northeast of Ehrhardt. Numerous trees were down along with some powerlines. Moderate damage occurred to 3 homes and 2 mobile homes. One out building was destroyed. Golfball to tennis ball size hail also accompanied this storm stripping trees of leaves and pine needles and flattening crops.

Survey found utility poles snapped in half, trees and powerlines down. Moderate damage to several homes.
