Edinburg Power Outages Caused by Weather
Events
Several power poles down and power lines tangled in trees were reported throughout the city of Edinburg by the local fire department. Radar estimated potential wind gusts in excess of 50 knots (58 mph) from the bow echo within the squall line, which would imply such gusts in pockets despite the measurement at the Edinburg International Airport, about 8 miles north-northeast of town, of 39 knots (45 mph).
Power lines were blown down on the west side of Edinburg by a thunderstorm wind gust.
Damaging thunderstorm winds knocked down trees, tore shingles off roofs, and snapped a power pole.
