Gilmer Power Outages Caused by Weather
Events
Numerous trees were blown down throughout Upshur County, including Crabapple and Crepe Myrtle Road just south of Pritchett, Willow Oak Road, Mockingbird Lane, Highway 154, FM 556, and Silver Maple Road. Trees and power lines were downed on Aspen Trail near Pritchett. Two trees fell onto power lines near the Harmony School.
Trees and power lines were downed in the Southern and Eastern sections of Upshur County.
A tree was blown onto power lines at the intersection of FM 726 and Myrtle Road.
Trees and power lines were downed throughout Gilmer and much of Upshur County. Street signs were downed as well.
Episodes
Scattered strong storms developed during the heating of the afternoon across Northeast Texas. These storms developed along a residual outflow boundary from previous convection that had developed ahead of a weak upper level disturbance. This outflow boundary and complex of storms moved almost due south into Northeast Texas during the evening hours. One storm in Wood County produced strong damaging wind gusts which downed trees and powerlines.
