A roof of a medivac hanger was blown off and hit a house in a mobile home park due to thunderstorm winds. Power outages as well.

May 23, 2009 - Thunderstorm Wind

A severe thunderstorm tore down seven utility poles in Kutztown. The same severe thunderstorm tore down several trees. The combination of the wind and lightning caused about 1,000 homes and businesses to lose power in thirteen municipalities in Berks County including Reading, Douglassville, Bernville and Kutztown.

July 27, 2007 - Lightning

Lightning struck the peak of a three story house on East Main Street in Kutztown. The ensuing fire caused the ceiling to collapse in one apartment before the fire was extinguished. Damage was estimated at $10,000. About 1,500 homes and businesses lost power throughout the county due to the combination of damaging winds and lightning strikes.

July 16, 2007 - Thunderstorm Wind

A severe thunderstorm damaged the second and third floors as well as the roof of a toothbrush manufacturing plant in Kutztown. The roof and part of the third story wall of the plant were partially knocked down. The main stairwell in the plant was also destroyed. Elsewhere a Chinese Restaurant in the borough lost its display sign. Several trees and lines were knocked down on and around Main Street. Tree debris covered one playground set. About 5,000 homes and businesses in the area lost power.

November 16, 2006 - Thunderstorm Wind

A line of severe thunderstorms knocked down several trees and power lines across the central third and south central parts of Berks County. These included parts of the following municipalities: Bethel, Exeter, Maxatawny, Mount Penn, Reading, Richmond, Penhurst and Womelsdorf. About 2,500 homes and businesses lost power. Power was restored within about one hour.
