Power Outage in Lumpkin, GA

The Dawson County Emergency Manager reported trees and power lines blown down in the Lumpkin area of southeast Dawson County. One tree fell onto a house and power lines along West Mountainside Drive.

The Dawson County Emergency Manager reported a portion of the metal roof was blown off of a strip mall around the intersection of Highway 400 and Highway 53. The debris landed onto power lines behind the building, severing the lines.

The Stewart County Emergency Manager reported trees and power lines blown down from Lumpkin to northeast of Louvale. Trees and power lines were down on Valley Road, Liberty Street and Broad Street in Lumpkin and along Moores Store Road northeast of Louvale.

The Dawson County Emergency Manager reported numerous trees and power lines blown down across the county from near Amicalola Falls State Park through Dawsonville to near Lumpkin.

The Dawson County 911 center reported several trees and a few power lines blown down across the southeast corner of the county. Damage stretched from around the intersection of A T Moore Road and Kelly Bridge Road west of Silver City to the Lumpkin area, including Clayton Wallace Road, Sweetgum Drive and Highway 53 north and south of GA400.

The Dawson County 911 center reported numerous reports of trees and power lines blown down across the city of Dawsonville extending east and southeast to around the intersection of Highways 53 and 19. A sign was blown off of an overpass on Highway 19 and struck a vehicle, no injuries were reported.

The Dawson County Emergency Management Director reported that a squall line of thunderstorms with strong straight-line winds had caused considerable damage in the northeast part of the county, northeast of Juno near the Dawson/Lumpkin county line. Numerous large trees were down in the area and several structures and property in the area had received minor to moderate damage. Most of the damage was confined to Greenway Road where three homes sustained minor wind damage, mostly in the form of damage of siding, decks, and fences. A number of large trees were also down in these same areas causing additional damage to property. A couple of work shops were also damaged in the same area when portions of tin roofs were blown off the structures in addition to siding damage. Power lines and power poles were also down. Outside of this area, the public and the Dawson County Emergency Management Director reported that trees were down in other scattered areas about the county, but most notably in the southern part of the county near the Forsyth county line along Cowart and Kelly Bridge Roads. Greenway, Cowart, and Kelly Bridge roads all had to be closed for several hours because of numerous downed trees on the roadways.

The Emergency Management Director for Stewart county reported trees down in Lumpkin which also brought down some power lines. In addition, a funnel cloud was sighted in the area.
