Emergency management reported tree damage to a home and power lines near Private Road 282 in rural Fannin County.
Trees were knocked down and power outages were reported between Bonham and Telephone.
Emergency management reported accumulating ice on power lines and major power lines down south of Bonham. Trees were reported down onto power lines near Honey Grove. Storm totals ice accumulation of 0.75 inch was measured in the city of Bonham. The city also received at least 2 inches of snow. One fatality in the Savoy area was attributed to the winter storm. A 47-yo gentleman was found deceased in a home that had lost power, and the resident was using propane to provide heat.
Extreme cold gripped the county for several days. Overnight lows were near or below 10 degrees Fahrenheit for most of the week. The period of February 15-16th was the coldest with low temperatures between 2 and -5 degrees Fahrenheit, and the maximum temperature on the 15th was only in the lower teens. Wind chill values during the 14th-16th were between 0 to -20 degrees Fahrenheit most of the time. The cold temperatures resulted in an extreme amount of damage to pipes, infrastructure, and power.
Several roofs sustained damage and several trees and power lines were blown down.
