A thunderstorm downburst affected the southeastern corner of Trumbull County. Dozens of trees were downed in Liberty, Vienna, Brookfield and Hubbard Townships. Several homes were damaged by fallen trees in Brookfield and Hubbard. Several roads had to be closed because of downed trees. Scattered power outages were reported as well.

Power outages top 600,000 in wake of intense storms Monday night

Tornado sirens blared in one of the United States' largest cities Monday evening, signaling the start of a long, stormy night across the Midwest and Ohio Valley. In a week in which Chicago was also dealing with sweltering heat, the Windy City was slammed with storms that unleashed heavy rain, strong winds and potentially a tornado. The National Weather Service is planning to conduct damage surveys Tuesday to determine if a tornado did in fact touch down. Winds reached a gust of 84 mph at Chicago
